The principals of Carter Construction are: Ira (Juddy) Carter, a State Certified General Contractor. Jud Carter a Certified Contractor that specializes in ICF (Insulated Concrete Form) construction. and Susan Carter who works along with staff from the beginning concept to the last final detail assisting clients with design and decorating details.
For five generations Ira Judson Carters have been leaving their mark on North Central Florida. In fact the family line goes back so far that there used to be a Levy County community called Judson that slowly disbursed when the railroad chose not to stop there.
Now Ira Judson Carter IV is etching his mark in Alachua County as a builder of homes since 1981 and the first builder in the City of Gainesville to receive a green building permit. Following the footsteps of a Levy county farmer, a businessman and Newberry Judge, an Alachua County Judge and state legislator is not’t easy. But those that know Carter say he is indeed up to the task.

Juddy as everyone calls him graduated from Florida State University. Is a former President of the Gainesville Builders Association, a past member of the City of Gainesville Plan Board, Boys Club Board of Directors member. Currently He serves as a State Director for the Florida Builders Association and serves on the Santa Fe Community College, School of Construction Board of Directors. He has also been trained in Leadership Gainesville. |

Jud is a Certified Contractor that specializes in Insulated Concrete Form homes. Jud graduated from Murray State University in Murray Kentucky. He joined the family business in 2002. Jud is committed to providing each homeowner with personal attention that building a custom home deserves. With his training in ICF homes he believes that you can have a truly beautiful comfortable home that is energy efficient with enduring quality construction and great design. |

Susan met Juddy her husband on their first day of high school. They were 15 and have been together since. Susan graduated from Florida State University and taught school until joining the business in 1981. Susan meets with clients from the beginning of the design process coordinating every detail, assisting clients with design and decorating details. Susan coordinates selections and will go with you to make those important decisions. |

Susan meets with clients prior to contracts and finds out what they like and what they want in their new home. She sets adequate allowances for contracting and helps in those selections. Carter Construction is not a production builder. Each home is unique to that client as they should be. Susan has been an active member of the community for many years. She has served on the City of Gainesville Code Enforcement Board, Big Brothers Big Sisters Board of Directors, President, Thomas Center Historical Association Board of Directors, Cub Scout Leader, Member Gainesville Junior League, Hospice Designer Show Case Coordinator, JJ. Finley, Westwood Middle School, Gainesville High School Volunteer. Interfaith Hospitality Network Volunteer. Tech Prep Advisory Committee SFCC. Chair of the Poverty Reduction Team, Health and Human Services Committee, appointed by the Board of County Commissioners. |
